The fire has a limit
- The rivers shall not overflow thee — God sets the boundary.
- The flame shall not kindle upon thee — it can touch your situation but not your soul.
- What the enemy heated up, God is using to purify.
The fire has a purpose
- Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out without the smell of smoke.
- The only things the fire burned were their bonds.
Transcript
The prophet Isaiah brings a word from the Lord: when thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee. When thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
He did not say if you pass through. He said when. Trouble is not a possibility for the believer — it is a passage. But every passage has an exit, and every fire has a thermostat that God controls.
Look at the three Hebrew boys. The fire was hot enough to burn the men who threw them in, but it could not burn the men who were thrown in. Why? Because there was a fourth man in the fire.
And when they came out, the only things missing were the ropes that bound them. Church, some of the things holding you back are about to burn off in the very fire you have been praying to escape.
Don't faint in the fire. The fire is not your funeral — it is your freedom.
